Save Internet Radio

I was only recently made aware of this. Apparently internet radio broadcasters will have to pay a substantially increased royalty fee, starting July 15. Even worse, these fees will be retroactive to Jan 1, 2006 (yes, 2006). Needless to say, this is going to seriously harm most internet radio broadcasters, and probably shut many of them down.

Apparently this ruling was intended to help music artists, but I believe strongly that it will only hurt them. Myself, I would not have heard of half the artists I listen to, had I not discovered them via internet radio.

Click here for more information, as well as to learn about The Internet Radio Equality Act currently in Congress. They'll even give you the numbers of your local congressmen if you wish to give them a piece of your mind.

Also, a new rant for those on my rant filter, fun fun.
