The Good, the Bad and the Hungry

Not much going on, really. I just got home from work; that was tiring tonight. The boss decided to combine our two 15 minute breaks together, so now we go 3 hours before our first break, and three hours before lunch, then only an hour and a half before the shift ends. One fellow was very upset by this, and considering how physically hard the work is, and his age, I really don't blame him. Quite a few people complained about it last night, though I doubt the bosses will change their minds about it until someone goes to human resources about it. Myself, I really don't care how it goes, although things did feel somehow slower this way, probably as I had to pace myself. I'm very quick at work; that's what I'm known for. Lately my knees and back have been creaking though; I'm really not sure how much longer I can keep this kind of thing up, at least at my current pace. Thing is, I really hate to go slow.

Hmm, my schedule is whacked this week, so there's no real way I could plan a trip to Maine. Pity... I miss my nephews.

I need to get some new shoes!

I need some new books, too. Just finishing up Yarrow and the rest of the Charles de Lint books I had in storage and had almost forgotten about. Mmm, urban fantasy is probably my favorite type of fiction, though there's not a lot of it out there. (Urban fantasy is basically combining traditional faery and other mythic elements into a modern setting.) Much of de Lint's stuff is good, particularly his middle works; Memory and Dream is the one that sticks out in my head at the moment. My friend Crystal also introduced me to Emma Bull's War for the Oaks, which is one of the earliest and best books of this genre, and which finally went back into print only a few years ago. Hmm, I really need to find more authors of the genre; pity there aren't that many.

Hmm, I'm hungry now. I blame tzisorey for that, as he's talking about pasta and Chinese food over on ICQ. That brat! I'll get him later.
